Russian human rights activists defend "silent actions" in Belarus
Head of Moscow Helsinki Group Liudmila Aliakseeva has made such a statement.
According to her words quoted by RIA Novosti, Russia should not stay aside when there are mass detentions at the silent protest actions in Belarus. Human rights violations, according to Aliakseeva, can never be an internal business of any state - this is the concern of the whole international community. She added that there's a close connection between Russia and Belarus, therefore, Russia should be the first to react to such actions of the Belarusian authorities.
Member of the Civil Chamber of Russia human rights defender Aliaksandr Brod agreed that Russia should react to the events in Belarus. He thinks that it is necessary to create an international observing mission. It should investigate why Belarusian and foreign citizens are constantly detained during protest actions in Minsk.
