Poczobut’s property being attached
Officers of court visited the house of Andrzej Poczobut, a Hrodna journalist for Gazeta Wyborcza.
Aksana Poczobut, his wife, told Radio Svaboda that officers of court wanted to attach the property to collect fines from her husband. She said them that all home appliances had already been attached by the KGB after a criminal case over insulting and defaming Lukashenka had been opened against Andrzej.
Trial against the journalist began on June 14. The next court session is scheduled for June 23.
The journalist is accused of insulting and defaming Alyaksandr Lukashenka on the ground of his articles in Gazeta Wyborcza and on his blog.
The journalist is charged with violating two articles of the Criminal Code, 358, part 1 (insult) and 367, part 1 (defamation) of the president. The first article carries a punishment of up to two years in prison, the second one p from two to four years.
