Procuracy brought criminal case against blogger Yauhen Lipkovich
The Prosecutor General of Belarus
initiated a criminal case concerning insult of the national flag in Yauhen
Lipkovich’s blog.
According to the Minsk police, the
criminal case under Art. 370 (abuse of state emblem of
the Republic of Belarus, the state flag and the national anthem of the Republic
of Belarus) was initiated by the General Prosecutor's Office on 20 May and has
only recently been transferred to the investigation of the police.
According to the Prosecutor
General's Office, the basis for criminal prosecution was that on 25 September
2010 and 5 May 2011 offensive pictures of the national flag of the Republic of Belarus, produced by means of photo
montage, were uploaded to the website http://lipkovich.livejournal.com.
It is assumed that this page
belongs to Yauhen Lipkovich. By the way, last week Lipkovich’s
blog was blocked for view at state enterprises and institution on an
appropriate ruling of the General Prosecutor's Office.
