Censorship detains letters of political prisoner Fiodar Mirzayanau
The mother and friends of Fiodar Mirzayanau, convicted
for participation in the rally against the rigged presidential election held in
central Minsk on 19 December 2010, haven't received letters from him for 10
days already, though they are sure that he regularly writes to them.
At present Fiodar is kept in the pre-trial prison in Valadarski Street in
Minsk, waiting for the transfer to the penal colony Vouchyia Nory.
Moreover, Judge Natallia Chatsverakova didn't let his mother meet him once
again, instead of his father. Fiodar's grandmother wasn't allowed to meet him
either. Thus, it is impossible to receive any information about him now.
By the way, earlier there were some problems with correspondence as well:
sometimes no letters were received for 3-5 days, and then several letters with
different dates were delivered at once.
Fiodar's mother considers it as a means of pressurizing him and the relatives.
On 9 June the prison guards accepted her parcel for the son, with the exception
for water filters, though it is well-known that the quality of water in the
prison is very low – there is far too much chlorine in it.
