Homel Regional Court dismissed a complaint lodged by local opposition activist Uladizmir Niapomniashchykh against actions by policemen who detained him on 25 March. As a result, the activist was sentenced to 2 days of arrest for “using foul language.”
During the court session, Mr. Niapomniashchykh asked the judge to examine a witness of the alleged incident and to arrange a psychiatric examination. “For could a mentally sane person, with a train ticket and luggage on him, start swearing and swaying his arms in a desert street at 6 a.m., as the policemen testified?”, says the activist.
