Mahiliou: unidentified persons haunt democratic activists
On 19 April an unidentified man who introduced himself
police officer Kapytau tried to meet with a civil activist Pavel Varashylau. In
the morning he phoned to the home number, but Pavel was away at work. In some
time he phoned to the mobile and invited the activist for a “talk” concerning
the civil campaign Our House. However, Pavel refused to meet without
getting an official writ. The policemen promised to issue the writ soon.
People in suits and neckties tried to meet with another activist, Ales Paplyka.
At first he received a telephone call from an unidentified person who asked for
a meeting in the city center, allegedly to talk about construction materials,
which the activist was allegedly selling. However, Ales refused to meet with
him.
Some hours after it three men in suits and neckties came to Ales's working
place. They introduced themselves as his friends and asked about his
whereabouts. However, the activist wasn't at work at that time.
