Procuracy warns Nasha Niva again
The private socio-political weekly Nasha Niva was
served an official warning by the Deputy Prosecutor General M.Kuklis for the
article Colonel Baradach: Explosives Were Brought by Officers of a Secret
Service where the former colonel of special-mission military troops
expressed the opinion that the terrorist act in the Minsk metro could be
ordered by some state officials who are interested in the destabilization of
the situation in the country.
The procuracy considers this opinion groundless and calls it “libelous
insinuations and … actions, aimed at the discredit of the Belarusian state”.
Bear in mind that the day before, on 18 April, the chief editor of Nasha
Niva was summonsed to the KGB and warned about responsibility for the
disclosure of secrets of the investigation of the 11 April terrorist act.
It was already the 7th meeting of Nasha Niva with the KGB
during the four last months – before this there were four searches, confiscation
of the computer equipment, one interrogation and one visit for copying photo
and video materials. It is difficult to imagine a newspaper working in such
conditions in any other European country.
