7 participants of 19 December post-election protest rally to be tried together
The criminal cases against some of the accused of the “mass riot” have been
passed to the Leninski District Court of Minsk and will be considered soon. It
concerns the cases presidential candidates Dzmitry Uss and Mikalai
Statkevich, the participants of the rally on the Nezalezhnasts
Square Dzmitry Bulanau, Artsiom Hrybko, Aliaksandr Klaskouski, Aliaksandr
Kviatkevich and Andrei Pazniak will be considered by in the nearest
future.
The exact date hasn’t been appointed yet. However, it is known that the trial
will be lead by Judge Liudmila Hrachova.
Several days ago the Minsk Procuracy also transferred the cases against the
head of Dzmitry Bandarenka (an electioneering agent of Andrei Sannikau), Iryna
Khalip (journalist, Sannikau’s wife), Siarhei Martsaleu (head of the electoral
headquarters of Mikalai Statkevich) and Pavel Seviarynets (head of the
electoral headquarters of Vital Rymasheuski) to the Minsk City Court in order
to determine their territorial jurisdiction. All of them are charged under
Article 342, “Organizing or preparing actions that grossly violate the public
order or taking active part in such actions”, which envisages up to 3 years of
imprisonment. According to Interfax they
are also charged with creating artificial grounds for the imposition of
economic sanctions by the EU and the US.
