General Procuracy issues official warnings to Kostka, Milinkevich and Starykevich
"Some publications containing groundless information and
insinuations concerning the tragic events in the Minsk metro, aimed at discrediting the
Belarusian society and state have been distributed in some media including the
Internet. In order to prevent such acts and
ensure the right of citizens to receive truthful information based on objective
data, the General Procuracy warned a number of persons who engaged in the
mentioned activities, including civil activist Milinkevich A.U., journalist
Starykevich A. and citizen Kostka V.I.” reads the appropriate press-release of
the procuracy.
As it is stated there, the
warned individuals “agreed with the warning and undertook to refrain from
distributing groundless information in the future”.
However, according to the information Mr. Starykevich gave to the BelaPAN, he had been warned for the
article Who benefits?, published at
the gazetaby.com.
"I got a call from the procuracy. The conversation
was correct on both sides. And now I'm a little surprised with the
interpretation that appeared on the website, because I do not agree with the
warning, I just took note of it. I don’t think that I spread any facts that do
not correspond to reality. I offered only versions in my article," said
Starykevich.
