On 6 April the trial of
Katsiaryna Herasimchyk ended at the Leninski District Court of Hrodna.
Katsiaryna had been detained by the police in February on suspicion in making graffiti
on the monument to Lenin. The police composed a violation report against her
and searched her room in a student dormitory. The trial was delayed – the hearings
were postponed several times.
Eventually, Judge Natallia Kozel found the young activist guilty and ruled to
fine her 525,000 rubles (about $170). The confiscated belongings, including the
laptop, still haven’t been returned to Katsiaryna.
