The observers who had
been prohibited to watch the verification of signatures in support of
candidates for president at the commission, appealed the prohibition at the
Minsk Region Election Commission.
The Minsk Region Election Commission, in its turn, found the ban lawful and
answered that ‘according to Article 13 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Belarus, observers have the right to
attend the sittings of the appropriate election commissions, not procedural
measures’. The answer is signed by the head of the commission A. Vasiliieu.
