Anatol Yurevich, the head of the electoral team of the democratic candidate Uladzimir Niakliayeu in the Slutsk district, was informed about the breach of the labor contract. On 7 October he was invited to the personnel department of the Slutsk building site of Minskenerhaspetsramont where he was working as a chief foreman and was proposed to sign the notice about the breach of the contract.

’I wrote that I disagreed with this decision,’ stated Mr. Yurevich. ‘According to the labor legislation, the enterprise of the administration was to have warned me about the dismissal in a month before the end of the labor contract. However, the contract expires on 21 October, that’s why it cannot be cancelled.’

According to Anatol, on 6 October the chief engineer of the enterprise passed him an official gratitude and on 1 October he signed an additional agreement, according to which his wage was to be increased.

By the way on 21 September the Slutsk building site of Minskenerhaspetsramont had placed an advert about a vacancy of chief foreman. In order to evade a possible provocation, an acquaintance of Anatol Yurevich phoned on the telephone number that stood in the ad. The receiver was lifted by an officer of the personnel department of Minskenerhaspetsramont, who proposed him to send his CV by fax or come to their office for an interview. ‘Has this working place been established recently?’, asked the man. ‘No, one of our workers retires,’ explained the officer.

In spite of his being shocked with information about the upcoming dismissal, Mr. Yurevich stated that he would continue working and wasn’t going to retire from the electoral team of Uladzimir Niakliayeu either.
