The Minsk city executive committee denied the registered organization Historyka in holding an action on occasion of the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald.
The city authorities answer as usual: ‘Whereas the application by Historyka for holding a mass event doesn’t comply with requirements of part 5 of Article 5 of the law On Mass Events, the Minsk city executive committee does not permit organizing the event on the square near the National Library’.
Despite the ban, the youth aren’t going to refuse from celebrating the victory of the troops of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania over the Teutonic Knights.
The first Pillow Fight organized on the occasion of the 599th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald was carried out in Minsk on 15 July 2009, without permission of the local authorities. The second pillow fight, an authorized one, was held two months later, on 8 September 2009 to mark the 495th anniversary of the Battle of Orsha. The second fight attracted about 400 people.
