Smaliavichy district official mudslinging opposition candidate
According to a representative of the Radio-Electronic Industry Independent Trade Union’s Minsk regional office Mikalai Pakhabau, chair of Usiazhy village executive committee and chair of the local council Uladzimir Liutko deliberately distorted information on independent candidate Aleh Skokau at a meeting with voters in the village of Khotseneva, Smaliavichy district, on 15 April. The official declared Mr. Skokau was a Belarusian Popular Front member, which is false, for he is an unaffiliated candidate. The above-mentioned fact is stated in Aleh Skokau’s canvassing poster.
Mikalai Pakhabau also said Aleh Skokau received money from the opposition and used it for travelling abroad, referring to ‘data provided by the special services.’
Aleh Skokau, activist of the Radio-Electronic Industry Independent Trade Union, says he is going to address the local KGB department for explanations.
