Yauhen Afnahel arrested in Supreme Court

The activist of the civil campaign European Belarus was arrested at the trial over Mikalai Autukhovich and Uladzimir Asipenka.

Yauhen Afnahel and other European Belarus activists came to court to express solidarity with the prisoners of conscience. According to witnesses, Afnahel was detained by riot policemen.

The youth activist was taken to the Lenisnki district court in Syamashka street. Afnahel stood trial for participation in an action of solidarity with Autukhovich and Asipenka, which was held near the Supreme Court building and was dispersed by the police on March 16, the website European Belarus reports.

14 democratic activists were arrested at the action. They were accused of violating article 23.34 of the Administrative Code (violation of the rules of holding mass events).

Judge Khama has sentenced Afnahel to a fine of 0.5 basic units (17,500 Br), and after that he was released.

European Belarus activist Maksim Vinyarski was arrested in Minsk center yesterday. He received a court summons for March 22.
