Picket against “inaction of authorities” suppressed in Talachyn
Dwellers of the town of Talachyn (the Vitsebsk region) tried to block a street, but were dispersed by the militia.
Talachyn dweller Mikalai Petrushenka told Radio Svaboda the militia had broken p the picket against inactivity of the local authorities. Stand pipes in most parts of the town have not worked for a months. Darozhnaya Street and districts near the textile factory remain waterless.
The citizens complained to the housing services, but haven’t received any replies, Mikalai Petrushenka says.
On February 4, women invited Belsat journalist Ivan Shulha to come. But he was unlawfully accused of “disorderly conduct” and arrested for ten days. The journalist was detained on February 3, when the militia was trying to burst into the TV channel office.
Militiamen from Vitsebsk arrived in Talachyn today. At 7:20 a.m., some people tried to block a street protesting against inactivity of the authorities. the picket was dispersed by militia.
