Human Rights Alliance announced names of its prizeholders
On 9 December in Minsk the civil initiative Human Rights Alliance announced the names of the holders of its yearly prize for human rights protection. The festive event was attended by about 50 people including journalists, politicians and civil activists.
It is the second time the prize is awarded. Last year its holders were the human rights defender Barys Zvoskau, the lawyer Tamara Sidarenka and the journalist Siamion Pechanko.
This year the prize was awarded to Pavel Sapelka, as the lawyer who was most active in defending human rights (among his clients there are Mikalai Autukhovich and Uladzimir Asipenka whom the authorities suspect in preparation of a terrorist act); to the human rights defender Raman Kisliak who came from Brest; and to the journalist of Radio Liberty Aleh Hruzdzilovich.
