Artur Finkevich got 0.5-million fine
The Savetski district court of Minsk fined youth activist Artur Finkevich of 525,000 Belarusian rubles.
A judgement against Artur Finkevich was delivered by judge of the Savetski district court of Minsk Lyudmila Savastsyan.
Leader of the initiative “Young Belarus” is satisfied with the court decision, for, according to him, he will be able to take part in demonstration on Freedom Day, March 25.
“I have an impression there are two forces in our government – one of them tightens screws, but the other want to show liberalization,” Finkevich says.
This is how the opposition activist explained the fact that at first he had been arrested and taken to a pre-trial centre, and then just fined.
It should be reminded that youth leader Artur Finkevich was arrested on March 20 on Independence Avenue in Minsk. According to evidence of militia officers, he stepped on foot of one of the militiamen when leaving Sancho Panza cafe, and was using obscene language.
Artur Finkevich didn’t confirmed evidence of militia officers. The activist went on hungry strike in the pre-trial centre protesting against unlawful arrest. The oppositionist said he had purposefully been detained ahead of the demonstration on Freedom Day on March 25.
