Youth activist Ivan Shyla is illegally drafted to army
On 11 December the activist of Salihorsk Young Front Ivan Shyla received a writ to appear in the military enlistment office at his residence. Ivan Shyla was said a decision medical unfitness taken in November was cancelled, he must be drafted to army within some days and he had been put on the list of persons restricted to leave Belarus for that time.
‘I received a writ where it is said that I am restricted to leave Belarus in view of drafting. I went to the military enlistment office, only in the last cabinet I was said I must have a medical examination on Friday and would be sent to army,’ Ivan Shyla said to radio Racyja.
It should be reminded that it is not the first case when youth democratic activists are decisions of deferment are called off. So, last year in January, Zmitser Zhaleznichenka, activist of BPF Youth, expelled from university, was drafted in Homel. The same happened to head of this organization Ales Kalita in Minsk in April. Franak Viachorka, son of deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front Vintsuk Viachorka, is under threat of being drafted too.
