Police are allowed to use polygraph
The Minister of Interior Uladzimir Navumau has issued the instruction on questioning of citizens with the use of polygraph. There it is stated that the polygraph which is used during the questioning ‘must not inflict any harm neither to the human health and life nor to the environment’.
Such questioning can be conducted during investigation and search operations and drafting of individuals to service in the police.
According to the instruction which has been also approved by the Prosecutor General Ryhor Vasilevich ‘questioning during search and investigation operations serves for elaboration of investigation versions and the optimal variants of activity for their checking’.
The agency which conducts such questioning is to save its results for three years. The results of the questioning are probabilistic and the information received during it cannot serve as evidence.
