Siarhei Haidukevich Asks EU to Check Grants of Belarusian Opposition
A special representative of Belarus in European organizations, chair of the Belarusian Liberal Democratic Party Siarhei Haidukevich asked the European Union to check the grants that are given for support of the Belarusian opposition. He also spoke about ‘incorrect elucidation’ of the transformation processes in Belarus by the European media.
‘I asked my colleagues from the EU to check the grants that are issued by the European tax payers for support of public organizations and some democratic transformations in Belarus. Note that neither Russia nor the Ukraine object to EU support on any wide-known programs. We simply say that one must not use the money for growing in our state people who are paid for expressing an ordered point of view,’ Siarhei Haidukevich stated.
He also said that European journalists ‘modestly hide’ information about improvements in the field of human rights in Belarus. It is quite surprising to hear such words. In general, all Haidukevich’s statements deserve a critical attitude – despite his attempts to create a different impression, he still has much more to do with the state authorities than the Belarusian opposition.
