On 11 June dozens of vendors gathered near the building of Rechytsa district executive committee (Homel region) with the demand to give them a new place for work after Slavianski market was closed for repairs.
The resolution to close the market since 11 June was suddenly adopted by the head of Rechytsa sanitation and epidemiology center Viktar Padniasionkau. ‘Our region is getting ready to Dazhynki festival, and we cannot allow the market to stay in such a condition. There is no storm-water drainage or toilet here. Asphalt is broken and there are no drinking-fountains to wash fruits. That is why I have issued resolution #211 to close the market since 11 June. Time is needed to prepare the market to Dazhynki festival,’ he told to BelaPAN correspondent.
Agreements of entrepreneurs with Rechytsa district executive committee and the owner of the market (a private trade and manufacturing enterprise Donapris) that the market would be closed since 1 July 1 have been violated. Entrepreneurs have paid taxes for the whole June. Besides, they cannot transfer their business to a new place, a spot near a canning plant, immediately. Firstly, the administration of the plant is changing a fence in connection with Dazhynki, and machines are working there. Secondly, entrepreneurs cannot buy tents for their goods so quickly.
The deputy chair of Rechytsa district executive committee Viachaslau Pamaleika asked the vendors to return to Slavianski market. He promised them to arrive to the market himself to study the situation.
