Interrogations of Regional Activist of Young Front Continue
In the regions the number of Young Front activist is much smaller than in the capital. Sometimes the parents of regional activist don’t share the convictions of their children and the local investigators threaten to under-aged persons with imprisonment.
Understanding this, Young Front activists started organizing peculiar actions of solidarity with their friends. Now they organize delegations to regional police and KGB offices. On 2 June a group of youth paid a visit to Salihorsk prosecutor’s office, KGB and police. The youngsters asked, why their friends are summonsed for interrogations and threatened with imprisonment. Similar actions are planned for Baranavichy and Hrodna.
According to RFE/RL this week Young Front activists were interrogated in Baranavichy, Hrodna, Niasvizh and Salihorsk. The youngsters also plan to send letters to such institutions with the demand to give written answers.
‘Prosecutors, KGB agents and policemen get frightened if people from Minsk or representatives of world-known mass media pay interest to the events in their regions’, says Pavel Seviarynets. ‘It unveils the real nature of this regime, which tries to hit secretly in dark corners, trying to get revenge on the most defenseless activists’.
