Svabodu Belarusi Newspaper to Be Destroyed

On 3 April the deputy chair of United Civil Party received ruling of the Ministry of Information On dropping the administrative case, dated 30 March and signed by the deputy minister Ihar Laptsionak. There it was stated that the case was dropped, but 50 000 copies of Svabodu Belarusi newspaper would be liquidated as it didn’t meet the demands of the law On press and other mass media and couldn’t be distributed on the territory of Belarus. It is not quite clear what is meant by this.

Ihar Shynkaryk was detained on 7 March while transporting by his car 50 000 copies of Svabodu Belarusi (bulletin of the National Committee of the democratic forces). The issue was dedicated to the oil and gas conflict between Russia and Belarus. The load was confiscated by the police department of Minsk district executive committee.
