Ihar Rynkevich Is Pressurized by Law Machinery

On 28 February Ihar Rynkevich, lawyer of a former candidate to the presidential position Aliaksandr Kazulin, has filed with the prosecutor’s office of Belarus a request to bring a criminal case on the fact of falsification of the results of the presidential election. In this request he demands that the prosecutor’s office give a legal evaluation of Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s statement to the Ukrainian mass media on 23 November 2006 in which he confessed the falsification and bring a criminal case on it. In the beginning of February analogical request was filed by Kazulin.

In response the main department of preliminary investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus applied to the chair of the Belarusian Bar with the request to give legal evaluation of Rynkevich’s activity as a lawyer, including the cases.

Rynkevich believes that this request can result in bringing a disciplinary case against him with the aim to deprive him of the lawyer’s license.
