According to a ruling of the court of Maskouski borough of Brest, a participant of the campaign For Freedom Andrei Sharenda was acquitted, his associate Dzшanis Turchanшak was fined 15 000 Belarusian rubles.
At the trial the policemen, who had detained Sharenda in the center of Brest on 11 January, could not explain the reasons for the detention. Judge Ruslan Sianko ruled to close the case against Andrei Sharenda.
As for the second activist of democratic movement, Dzianis Turchaniak, the first policemen tried to accuse him of driving a stolen car. Later these charged were dropped, but Mr. Turchaniak was fined about 14 US dollars for alleged cursing and disobeying demands of policemen.
