Democrats not allowed to conference in Kletsk

On 6 August the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Kletsk battle continued. A scientific conference dedicated to the victory of the armed forces of the Great Principality of Lithuania over Crimean Tartars took place at Kletsk District Executive Committee.

Activists of the local democratic movement spent much effort for honouring of this historic event and intended to take part in the conference as well. However, according to the information provided to RFE/RL by the activist Siarhei Panamarou, Kletsk authorities didnt let them to take part in the measure.

Chaslava Kniazeva, Mr Paklonski and I were literally thrown out of the building by the police and persons in civilian clothes. They let in those who were put into special lists or worked at the executive committee, Mr Panamarou said.
