Lubou Rezanovich, Henadz Kanaplicki, Alena Avechkina, Alaksandr Daradkevich and Lubou Laurukovich, owners of taxi-cabs, started a hunger strike protest demanding to cancel so-called republican tax payment.
The local tax inspection set a fine about BYR 200 mln (approximately USD 100 000) for the entrepreneurs. But the latter insist that tax inspectors misinterpret the decree by Lukashenka dated by April 25, 2004. The protesters informed Radio Liberty that some more owners of taxi-cabs are ready to join the protest in Brest.
