OFFICIALS COMPLAINED ABOUT A JOURNALIST FROM "HAZETA SLONIMSKAIA"

The deputy editor-in-chief of "Hazeta Slonimskaia" Siarhey Chyhryn has been called to the Regional Office of Public Prosecutor today. He was asked to give explanations about the article "Officials are changed but the city remains", ("HS" #19 (466)).
The journalist wrote about the changes in the administration of the region and its enterprises. For example, he wrote the head of one of the enterprises Vasil Salevich was going to leave his post. He also added that one of the officials from Slonim Region Executive Committee was going to be assigned for the post.
Mr. Salevich and the head of the Region Executive Committee Mechyslau Kastsiuk sent appeals to the Office of Public Prosecutor asking to subject the journalist to prosecution for having insulted them and for distribution of false information. Siarhey Chyhryn did not plead guilty.
