Brest: Andrei Sharenda Fined for Distribution of Brest-prauda Non-state Newspaper
According to the Assembly of NGOs
On 5 May Brest Maskouski borough administrative commission ruled to fine the student of Brest State Technical University Andrei Sharenda 20 000 rubles for handing out the non-state newspaper Brest-prauda and confiscate the copies which he had. The commission stated that the newspaper which he handed out on 24 April contained no imprint and was aimed at ‘doing harm to the state and public order, rights and legal interests of citizens’. The Assembly of NGOs states that Brest-prauda is an edition that has a circulation of 299 copies and therefore doesn’t need registration and imprint. The confiscated issue contained the surnames of the judges and other workers of the law machinery who had actively participated in the harassment of the public activists of Brest.
