On February 15, the case about the fine for 55 million rubles should have been considered in the Economic Court of Minsk. The case was initiated by the economic department of the Presidential Administration against the Union of Belarusian writers. But according to the secretary of the Union of Belarusian writers (UBW) Anatol Ivashchianka, the court was postponed for two days to provide the time for “examination of additional circumstances”.
On February 14, there was a meeting arranged by UBW Rada where this burning issue was considered. According to Anatol Ivashchanka, the writers think that the consideration of the case in the court is going to last for a long time. During the meeting 35 members of UBW were expelled from the Union because they had earlier became members of the new UBW and submitted their withdrawal request. Simultaneously, 13 new members were enlisted in UBW.
