Opposition Asks Lukashenka to Provide Room for Congress of Democratic Forces

The regular board of democratic forces applied to Aliaksandr Lukashenka with the request to give room for holding of the National congress of democratic forces. The congress organizers decided to do it after all local administrations refused to lend any building to them. They submitted such request to 21 executive committees and 51 recreation houses all over the country. The officials either responded with come-offs, writing they couldn’t lend any buildings for unknown reasons, or didn’t answer at all.

The room is to be large enough to accept 800 candidates. Two weeks ago the congress organizers wrote even to Iury Kulakouski, char of the Chamber of Representatives, but didn’t receive any answer from him.

Siarhiei Alfier, one of the leaders of United Civil Party, said:
-- Lukashenka states that only he guarantees everything in Belarus and decides everything. All the rest are afraid to solve the question with the room. The whole world will turn upside down if we receive it. In the case Lukashenka refuses, it will be an argument for holding the congress abroad.
