Riot squad police didn’t let people hold the action of solidarity with Sviatlana Zavadskaia on 1 August in Kastrychnitskaia Square in Minsk
More than 30 people went out to Kastrychnitskaia Square on 1 August to express solidarity with Sviatlana Zavadskaia, wife of the missing cameraman Dzmitry Zavadski (recently she was beaten by a policeman during the commemorative action dedicated to her husband). The action participants stood along the square, holding portraits of Dzmitry Zavadski.
Aliaksandr Liabiedzka, leader of the United Civil Party, gave a large red rose to Sviatlana Zavadskaia. She, in her turn, thanked to all who came to support her.
At that time the riot squad police ringed people and started pushing them out of the square. The officer who directed the operation ordered the policemen to behave well. The police pulled the action participants out to Niamiha Square and left there. The action was attended by activists of Belarusian People’s Front, representatives of UCP, Young Front, Zubr, etc. Several agents in plain clothes followed Anatol Liabiedzka till he got into his car.
