Valiantsina Statkievich, the wife of the famous Belarusian politician, said that on 29 July Mikalai Statkievich leaves for the Baranavichy penal labor camp, where he will serve his punishment.
Tsentralny Borough Court of Minsk punished Mikola Statkievich and Paval Sieviaryniets for organizing street demonstrations in Minsk on 18 and 19 October, during which mass disorders allegedly took place. The actions that occurred protested against the falsification of the election and referendum results. During the investigation amnesty was declared, which is why Mikola Statkievich and Paval Sieviaryniets will spend two rather than three years serving their sentence. A week ago Mikola Statkievich was summonsed to the police, where they took his fingerprints and took away his passport. In the near future, M.Statkievich will have to find a job in Baranavichy.
The editor of the Rabochy newspaper did his sentence in the penal labor camp in Baranavichy, so did the deputy chair of the BPF Party Viktar Ivashkievich.
