On 18 July in Chachersk Arkadz Korkhau and Vasil Chytaieu, both United Civil Party representatives, were tried in Chachersk. They were accused of organizing an unauthorized gathering in a privately-owned house in the village of Zalessie of Chachersk District.
During the gathering they nominated delegates to the Congress of Democratic Forces, a group of police officers with Major Tsalka, the assistant head of the District Police Department, at the head, attempted to disrupt the gathering. The opposition activists were fined 510 thousand rubles each, reports Radio Liberty.
