Homiel Authorities Control Sale of Newspapers and Magazines

Homiel City Executive Committee obliged all juridical bodies and businessmen who sold printed editions to “re-agree” their stock by 1 July.

On 30 June the newspaper of Homiel City Executive Committee Gomelskie Vedomosti published the article “Don’t Be Late!”, where it is said that “in accordance with the decision of Homiel Executive Committee #446 of 1 June 2005 “About regulation of retail of periodicals in Homiel” all juridical bodies and individual entrepreneurs must agree about the list of the sold periodicals at the board of trade and services of the executive committee”.

This step is continuation of the last-year’s order to the entrepreneurs and organizations who sold newspapers to provide to local authorities detailed information about all the newspapers they sold.

Besides, the conditions of retail of periodicals were changed by order #285 “About some measures on regulations of business activity, signed by Lukashenka on 18 June. Now the vendors will have to pay not the simplified single tax as they used to, but will have to pay the usual business set of taxes.
