After the hunger-strike the Hrodna businessman Valiery Lievanieuski went to the prison hospital in the Ivatsevichy penal facility. Lievanieuski was on hunger-strike for a week since 1 June, protesting the imprisonment conditions. According to the information provided to Radio Liberty by Valiery Lievanieuski's son Uladzimir, his father feels heartache and is undergoing a course of treatment.

We'd like to remind you that Valiery Lievanieuski, the businessmen's strike committee leader, and his deputy Aliaxandr Vasilieu had been convicted on charges of the insult on the president. On 7 September 2004 Leninski Borough Court of Hrodna convicted Lievanieuski and Vasilieu to two years in a common security prison. In the same month the human rights group Amnesty International condemned the verdict to Lievanieuski and Vasilieu and declared them prisoners of conscience.
