Chair of Constitutional Court Is Dissatisfied with Court Ruling System
According to Interfax news agency
On 4 April, during his speech at the Soviet of the Republic, the chair of the Supreme Court Valiantsin Sukala said he was against the double subordination of the court of general jurisdiction.
According to the present system, the Ministry of Justice is responsible for the staff policy and the financing of the courts and the Supreme Court was responsible for the results of their work. The chair of the Supreme Court said he could punish a judge for violations, but couldn’t reward him or her for good work. “When the money that belongs to Sukala (chair of the Supreme Court) lies in Halavanau’s pocket (justice minister), it brings bad consequences”, -stated Valiantsin Sukala. “The court system must be united and must have one administration”, -- he said. As an example he drew the system of economic courts that subdued only to the Supreme Economic Court.
