Search at Garage of Proxy of UCP Candidate

On 5 October policemen from Minsk City Board of Internal Affairs searched the garage of Yury Schapchyts, a proxy of the candidate from the United Civil Party Viktar Harbachow who runs in electoral circuit No. 78 of Barysaw.

Yury Shapchyts:

-- Two persons in plain clothes said to me that recently there have been many thefts in the garage cooperative and asked to open my garage for inspection. I ask them to introduce themselves and show me the order. One of them showed police certificate for the name of Vital Bialowski. Despite of absence of the order, they entered my garage. Having seen a pile of the “Nedelya” newspapers they asked me to show them the permission for the newspaper issue.

Though the policemen said their actions were far from politics, Yury Shapchyts believes they are related to the electoral campaign of Viktar Harbachow, who runs in the same electoral circuit with the official candidate, high-level state official Leanid Kozik.
