STATEMENT OF DEMOCRATIC PARTIES OF BELARUS

The Belarusian authorities have created conditions to liquidate political parties in opposition.
Taking into account, that division of power principle does not function in Belarus, and the National Assembly practically functions as a department of the President’s Office;
Stating, that the Chamber of Representatives does not demonstrate the political will to be the real parliament of the country and influence the development of the situation in the country;
Being aware of the fact, that the Belarusian regime conducts destructive and discriminative policy against the democratic parties;
Taking into account, that only four members of the Chamber of Representatives voted against anti-democratic amendments, which regulate activities of political parties,

DEMOCRATIC PARTIES OF BELARUS:

Consider the amendments to a number of laws, passed by the National Assembly, which hinder political parties’ activities, as a purposeful well-planned campaign to prepare annihilation of the multi-party system of Belarus just before the parliamentary election and the possible referendum;

Emphatically protest against the actions of the National Assembly, which are directed at strengthening the authoritarian regime in the country,

and Urge the international community to refrain from recognizing the National Assembly as a legitimate parliament of the country and to practice only sparse contacts with individual representatives of the National Assembly.
