Ivanowski’s representative Alexander Antaniuk filed a complaint to Hrodna city court, demanding to cancel the judgement of the borough court, which had sentenced Ivanowski to jail. Alexander Antaniuk, head of Hrodna Belarusian Helsinki Committee, could not review the text of the complaint together with Zmitser Ivanowski. On Fridat, 7 January Henadz Khatsko, head of Kastrychnitski borough police, refused to let Antaniuk visit the artist in jail.

Antaniuk is going to address the regional police board and prosecutor’s office with an appeal against Khatsko’s actions/ Khatsko refuses to comment on the incident.

Artist Zmitser Ivanowski, charged with organizing unauthorized rally of entrepreneurs, was sentenced to 15 days of jail. He started a hunger strike immediately when the judge announced the verdict.
