ROUND TABLE “IMPLEMENTATION OF BELARUSIAN ELECTION LEGISLATION IN ORGANIZING LOCAL ELECTIONS 2002”. 11 February 2003, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Conference Room of Planeta hotel

On 11 February the Human Rights Center “Viasna” organizes the round table “Implementation of Belarusian Election Legislation in Organizing Local Elections 2002”.
Well-known lawyers, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and political parties will take part in the work of the round table. The organizers also invited representatives of the Central Election Commission, members of the Chamber of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, and mass media.

AGENDA:
• Analyzing, if the Rulings and Recommendations of the Central Election Commission, which deal with preparation of the 24th local election correspond to the Constitution and the Election Code of the Republic of Belarus. Speaker: M. Hryb, chairperson of the Supreme Soviet of the 12th Convocation.
• Failure to implement democratic principles during forming of local election commissions. V. Stefanovich, lawyer of the Human Rights Center “Viasna”
• Candidates’ registration during the local election: basic tendencies and conclusions. Representatives of political parties.
