YOUNG FRONT MEMBER TO FACE TRIAL FOR PICKETING RUSSIAN EMBASSY
Zmitser Dashkevich, one of the picketers of the Russian Embassy, will be tried on Wednesday, 11 September. On 8 September about 15 Young Front members, held an unauthorized picket near the embassy of the Russian Federation. The picketers protested against plans of the neighboring country authorities to incorporate Belarus and create a union state. The picket participants held posters with protest slogans. In the end of the action they threw an appeal to the Russian leadership and a dummy resembling Putin over the fence of the Embassy. The policemen guarding the Embassy tried to stop the unauthorized picket, but Young Front members left the place. The Embassy invited sappers to check if the things thrown over to the Embassy territory were explosive.
The policemen, armed with machine guns detained 2 Young Front members – Zmitser Dashkevich and under-aged Artur Finkevich.
The detained were taken to Centralny borough police station, facing criminal charges. However, the police officers drew up a report of an administrative offence under Art. 167.1 and released both picketers until trial. Artur Finkevich's case was sent to a juvenile commission.
On 9 September Zmitser Dashkevich was summoned to a police station and later taken to Centralny borough court. Judge Pawluchuk satisfied Dashkevich's motion to invite a lawyer and summon witnesses. The trial is postponed to 11 September, 12 a.m.
