Journalist in Hrodna charged with illegal production and distribution of information

A Hrodna member of the Belarusian Association of Journalists, Ales Dzianisau has been accused of allegedly committing an administrative offense under Part 2 of Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code, illegal production and distribution of information. Now the freelance journalist faces a fine of 20 to 50 base units.
A representative of the police department in Hrodna said the charges stemmed from the testimony of chief director of the Hrodna Regional Puppet Theater Aleh Zhuhzhda. The Theatre director said that on 6 February 2014 the journalist recorded a story for the channel "Belsat" about a new production at the theatre. The video recorded by Ales Dzianisau was later shown on Belsat.
This week, the administrative case file will be forwarded to the court.
