Brest region: half of contenders for local councils in are members of local councils

All in all, 3,362 people filed documents for registration as contenders for the local councils in the Brest region. Most of them, 1,954 people, were nominated by collecting signatures of voters.

Labor collectives nominated 1,382 contenders. 130 persons were nominated by political parties. 36 of nominees of parties represent the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada), 31 – the Communist Party of Belarus, 20 – the Belarusian Left Party "Fair World", 13 – the Republican Party of Labor and Justice, 11 – Liberal Democratic Party, 10 – the Belarusian Popular Front and 8 – United Civil Party .

It is expected that the biggest competition will be among the contenders for the seats in Brest City Council – there are 124 contenders for 40 seats. With regard to the regional council, there are 126 contenders at 57 election constituencies.
