A criminal case against the paramedic of Minsk's detention facility, who was on duty on the night of Ihar Ptichkin's death, was initiated over part 2 of article 162 of the Criminal Code (improper performance of professional duties by a health worker resulting in death to a patient, Platform organisation writes.

If found guilty, paramedic Krylou may be imprisoned for 5 years.

Minsk resident Ihar Ptichkin died in the detention facility No. 1 on August 4, 2013. He died on his fourth day in jail.

The Maskouski district department of the Investigation Committee launched an inquiry into the death of Ihar Ptichkin. On September 4, 2013, the inquiry was extended until November 4, 2013. Ihar's relatives still don't know the official cause of his death.
