Human rights defenders congratulate Minsk citizens on Human Rights Day
On 10 December in Minsk civil activists and representatives of different human rights organizations congratulated the people on the International Human Rights Day.
Together with the congratulations the citizens were handed informational booklets and postcards covering various human rights issues. In particular, the human rights defenders reminded about the adverse discrimination of the disabled, the practical absence of an alternative to the army service and the use of the death penalty in Belarus.
The citizens, in their turn, got an opportunity to ask the human rights defenders about their problems and receive the information that was necessary for their resolving.
Among the human rights defenders who took part in the action there were representatives of Human Rights Center Viasna, Belarusian Helsinki Committee, Foundation for Legal Technologies Development and the Committee for Protection of the Repressed Salidarnasts.
