Youth protest against politically motivated drafts into the army

More than a dozen of activists of the unregistered organization Young Front held participated in the action of protest opposite the building of the Ministry of Defense. They stood there with the banner ‘No to political army drafting!’ and chanted ‘Freedom to Shyla! Freedom to Franak! Freedom to Khvedaruk!’

By such means Young Front expresses its protest against the actions of the Belarusian authorities that are aimed at neutralization of youth activists by means of illegal drafting into the army. Bear in mind that the youth leaders Ivan Shyla, Zmitser Khvedaruk, Franak Viachorka, Ales Kalita and Zmitser Zhaleznichenka have already become victims of such actions.

‘The events that have taken place during the last few days again witness that the so-called liberalization is used as a façade whereas the real nature of the Belarusian dictatorship remains the same. Young Front demands that the Ministry of Defense urgently stopped the politically motivated persecution of youth and held the drafting into the army objectively and in line with the present legislation,’ reads the address of the youth organization, passed to the ministry by the activist of the Young Front Nasta Palazhanka.
