More than 2.5 thousand signatures against construction of nuclear power station in Belarus

Representatives of the antinuclear public initiative in Horki distract of Mahiliou oblast have collected more than 2.5 thousand signatures against the construction of a nuclear power station in Belarus. BelaPAN was informed about it by the press-secretary of the initiative Eduard Brokarau.

In the address to the president and the government, signed by dwellers of Horki district, it is said: ‘We do not want to live on a powder keg, waiting for another catastrophe. We call the resident, the government and the parliament to abolish the decision on construction of the nuclear power station and issue the necessary means for creation of safe energy technologies.’

According to Mr. Brokarau, the collection of signatures continues and will continue till the abolishment of the decision for construction of the nuclear power station. While collecting the signatures, activists of the antinuclear initiative also inform citizens about the possible consequences of the nuclear power energy for people and environment.  As said by Brokarau, soon the activists intend to organize collection of signatures in the town of Mstsislau (Mahiliou oblast).
