VIASNA PUBLISHED BOOK ON LOCAL ELECTION

On 14 May 2003 Viasna presented its book Election to Local Councils of the 24th Convocation. Facts and Comments

The book analyzes all stages of the local election campaign in the following chapters:
• Public and political situation before and during the election
• Legal regulation of the local election
• Formation of election commissions
• Nomination and registration of candidates
• Promotion during the election campaign
• Voting
• Election observation
• Summary and conclusions
• Supplements

The authors analyzed the course of the election on the basis of the facts, reported by the regional branches and representatives of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" from all over the country.
The Supplement chapter contains the Rulings of the Central Election Commission, which regulated the election process, official information on all stages of the election campaign, voting results, letters and addresses of representatives of NGOs and political parties to the authorities, and statements of different organizations.
The book has 140 pages. It was published in 3 languages: Belarusian, Russian, and English. Now it’s being translated into Polish.

Representatives of nongovernmental organizations, political parties and diplomatic missions visited the presentation event.
